INAUGURAL ROYAL REGATTA: CELEBRATE HAWAIIAN CULTURE AND OCEAN SPORT
Don’t miss the inaugural Waikīkī Yacht Club Royal Regatta on November 1 that celebrates Hawaiʻi’s ocean heritage with a day of sailing, paddling, hula, and Hawaiian music. The event honors King David Kalākaua, who held an annual Regatta on his birthday beginning in 1875, and brings together keiki to kūpuna in a festive showcase of aloha. Honorary Chair Governor Josh Green is expected to be there for the opening at 8 a.m.
Free for keiki racers; a portion of the proceeds benefit the Waikīkī Yacht Club Education Foundation, which provides paddling and sailing scholarships for keiki and adult watermen and women and support for other WYC education programs.
Meanwhile, Waikiki Yacht Club opens its doors to the public: Food and drink available for purchase, and vendor tables with official Royal Regatta merch among others treasures for sale, along with additional hula and music performances
