Connection and Conflict: An Unlikely Love Story

Studies have shown that the quality of our connections is the greatest indicator of our happiness, health, and even longevity. We all know that where there is human connection, there is also conflict. In this interactive experience, you'll uncover who you are in conflict (your default conflict style) and reflect on how that impacts your critical relationships at home and work. We'll share the story of conflict, not as a cause of disconnection, but rather as a rich opportunity to strengthen your connections while achieving your goals.

Bios:

Marina Piscolish, Ph.D. and Jessica Velez, M.P.A. are partners at MAPping Change, LLC, a small, women-owned business that offers expert coaching, training, and facilitation services. Their work spans across sectors from education to conservation to public service, helping organizations and groups in Hawaii, across the mainland, and the broader Pacific. Marina has lived on Oʻahu since 1998 and has taught for over 10 years as adjunct faculty for the University of Hawaii’s Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution. She is an educator, an ICF-certified Executive Coach, an author, and speaker. Jessica joined Marina in the summer of 2021 as a Conflict and Collaboration Specialist. She earned her masters from the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Organizational Leadership for Adaptation and Change from the Chaminade University of Honolulu.
