Honoka'a Peace Day Parade and Festival

Honoka'a Peace Day Parade and Festival

Every September, Honoka’a town turns festive, as the annual Peace Day Parade and Festival celebrates the United Nations International Day of Peace. The Peace Day Parade takes place on Saturday, September 20, stepping off at 11 am. The Peace Day Festival will follow the parade, taking place in downtown Honokaa, on Mamane Street between Kika Street and Lehua Street. From noon to 4:00 pm.

With a focus on PEACE and the many ways we strive for a peaceful world, the schedule for the day will include musicians, drummers and dancers, young artists, churches, and others who’d like to celebrate their culture as part of the fun. We anticipate seeing some really meaningful and also fun performances and displays during the day’s events.

The first performance will be by the Honoka’a High School Jazz Band, part of the school’s Grammy award winning program, led by Gary Washburn. This year, there will be three stages for performances.
Parade entries and festival booth vendors are welcome to apply. Performers and groups are encouraged to visit the Peace Day website to download the application and details on how to participate https://www.peacedayparade.org/

The Peace Day Parade and Festival is organized and produced by the Peace Committee of Honoka`a Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and is supported by the County of Hawai’i, Committee on Social Concerns of Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai’i and the Honokaa Business Association.
