Haole Koa Foraging Contest - PIN IT to WIN IT -
One of Hawaii’s most invasive plants, Haole Koa has just been added to the Maui-based food foraging app, Savage Kitchen, with a recent update. Few people know that Haole Koa (Leucaena leucocephala) is an edible plant and abundant food source used in traditional Indonesian and Mexican cuisines. The PIN IT to WIN IT contest will run this week only (July 11-18) for a chance to win one of six locally made Haole Koa themed prizes including, three handcrafted Haole Koa seed necklaces, one Haole Koa botanical illustration print, one Haole Koa mandala art stretched canvas print, and one Haole Koa flower essence. Participants who drop a haole koa pin location on the map (photo required) will earn 10 points, and participants who use the hashtag #savagekitchenapp on social media will earn 1 point. Participants from anywhere around the globe are invited to participate, and winners will be announced no later than 3 weeks of the closing of the contest. The app is completely free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store; participants who have previously downloaded the app simply need to update it in order to start dropping Haole Koa pins.
