Become a Hawaiian Mission Houses Docent: Share History, Shape Perspectives
Love Hawaiian history? Passionate about connecting with people? Ready to make a meaningful impact?
Join our vibrant community of volunteer docents and become a storyteller of one of Hawaii’s most transformative periods. As a Hawaiian Mission Houses docent, you’ll guide visitors and students through the fascinating intersection of cultures that shaped modern Hawaiʻi, sharing compelling stories within our National Historic Landmark buildings.

Your Training Journey: Four comprehensive Saturday sessions (9am-3pm) with our Director of Education, covering everything from storytelling techniques to historical context, plus hands-on practice with our experienced docent mentors.

Whether you’re a retired educator, history enthusiast, or simply someone who loves meeting people from around the world, this opportunity offers the perfect blend of learning, teaching, and community service.

Four upcoming Saturdays:
7/19 – 9am to 3pm
7/26 – 9am to 3pm
8/2 – tour shadowing with existing docents
8/9 – 9am to 3pm

Ready to become a bridge between past and present?

Our docents don’t just give tours—they create connections, spark curiosity, and help visitors understand how this pivotal period continues to influence Hawaiian culture today.

Please contact Director of Education, Mike Smola: msmola@missionhouses.org to register.
