The non-profit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center will host a free talk on August 21st as part of their “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series. Talks are Third Thursdays from 12 noon to 1 pm via Zoom.

This month’s speaker is Sandra DeLateur on the topic “The Ladder of Assumptions: How Mediators Can Maintain Neutrality.”

“Are you aware of how your assumptions about a dispute or the parties can affect your neutrality?" asks DeLateur.

Our observations often trigger judgments which can lead to unsupported generalizations and conclusions. The Ladder of Assumptions is a tool to help anyone examine those presumptions about their interpretations. Join us to learn more about how to use the Ladder to improve mediator impartiality.
