Archbishop John C. Wester to Speak at Chaminade University
The Marianist Lecture Series at Chaminade University will feature Archbishop
John Charles Wester of Santa Fe in a timely presentation, “Nuclear Weapons: It’s 89 Seconds to Midnight—Does Anybody Care?”
The lecture will take place Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Mystical Rose Oratory on the Chaminade campus. The event is free and open to the public, with registration encouraged but not required. The lecture will also be livestreamed on the Mystical Rose Oratory Facebook page.
Archbishop Wester, a national leader in peace and justice issues, has been a vocal advocate for nuclear disarmament. He has served as Archbishop of Santa Fe since 2015 and brings decades of leadership in the Catholic Church, including roles in San Francisco and Salt Lake City.
The Marianist Lecture is co-sponsored by the Marianist Center of Hawaii, Chaminade University, and St. Louis School. Each presenter receives the Mackey Award for Catholic Thought, which honors the legacy of Fr. Robert Mackey, SM, Chaminade’s first president.
