The Annual MANA Invitational Art Show at Wailoa Center is curated and coordinated by Nelson and Kainoa Makua of Nā Mākua Designs. "We wanted to invite artist’s whose work reflected their mana” said Nelson. “Unlike most art shows, MANA 2023 is not a juried show. What makes MANA so different is that all of the art work was selected by the artists themselves, giving them an opportunity to submit art that they personally felt represented their mana." The main gallery features these 29 selected Hawaiʻi artists, and downstairs is an exhibit of works by haumana at Ka ʻUmeke Kaʻeo Public Charter School. Coordinated by Lauren Dement and Iliahi Anthony, the downstairs exhibits focuses on canoe plants like kalo, ipu, and niu. Students were able to explore plants through various senses and created artworks inspired by them.

The exhibits are on display at Wailoa Center April 8-27, 2023. Wailoa Center is open, Monday - Friday, 9-4 and Saturdays 10 -2 for this exhibit.
