The Battleship New Jersey is set to undergo its inaugural drydocking as a museum ship open to visitors. Returning to Drydock 3 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where it was originally completed alongside the USS Wisconsin and later reactivated for service in Vietnam, this marks a significant event. Notably, it will be the first time since the USS Missouri's yard period in 2009 that an Iowa-class battleship has been taken out of the water.
Join us as we delve into the planned scope of work and the preliminary measures already undertaken. Given New Jersey's distinct freshwater berth and its more northern location compared to its sister ships, the scope of work is naturally different. Want more? Visit the Battleship New Jersey in Philadelphia later this year for tours of the drydock and further discussions on this historic undertaking.
