2023 Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Remembrance Ceremony
The 2023 Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Remembrance and Installation ceremony will be held during the 2023 Police Week to remember and honor Hawai'i Law Enforcement Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their community on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hawai'i Law Enforcement Memorial located on the grounds of the Kalanimoku Building at 1151 Punchbowl Street.
At this year’s ceremony, the names of 7 law enforcement officers from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s will be added to the Memorial. These law enforcement officers were identified as four officers that were killed during the 1924 Hanapepe Massacre, a Detective killed during the 1911 Kekaha Riots, a Deputy Sheriff killed during the 1893 Battle of Kalalau Valley, and an officer from the Hawaii Police Department, killed in the line of duty in 1890. A keynote address will be given by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke.
