Conductor JoAnn Falletta and violinist Bella Hristova join Gene Schiller this morning to highlight their upcoming performances with the Hawai?i Symphony Orchestra.
Gene Schiller joined HPR in September, 1993 as a board operator. His first break came when he was asked to fill in for Music Director Alan Bunin. Six months later, he became the new host of Evening Concert, a program that runs on HPR-2 from 6 to 8 p.m. on weeknights.
After 30 years of performing around the world, the Miró Quartet will finally make its Hawaiʻi debut with two concerts. Cellist Joshua Gindele, one of the founding members, spoke to Evening Concert host Craig DeSilva about how the quartet has evolved over the past three decades.
Cheryl Bartlett visited with Sharene Taba to share her experience following the ICE detention of her husband, Rogerio, who faces possible deportation to Brazil. She discussed their ties to the local community, the personal impact of potential family separation, and shared her support for immigration reform.
