FILE - Henderson Land Development's founder and chairman Lee Shau-kee attends a news conference as he announces his retirement after the company's general meeting in Hong Kong, Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

The Four Seasons at Ko Olina apparently has a new owner. According to reports in several media outlets, developer Jeff Stone announced his firm The Resort Group has sold its interest in the property to a partner in the project, Hong Kong-based Hender Land Group.

Henderson Land is one of the largest property developers in Hong Kong — founded by one of the city’s wealthiest people. It’s one of the 50 companies that make up the Hang Seng stock index, and that alone puts it on the map of money managers around the world.

Founder Lee Shau-kee is a billionaire. Forbes pegs his wealth at north of 30-billion U.S. dollars, and earlier this year Forbes said he had pushed ahead of fellow property tycoon Li Ka Shing to become the richest person in Hong Kong.

At the age of 92, Lee has remained active in Henderson Land even after stepping down last year as chairman and managing director.

Henderson’s subsidiaries sprawl across sectors, with an extended reach of business and investment in mainland China. According to company documents, Henderson’s holdings in urban Hong Kong alone run to nearly 25 million square feet — from hotels to shopping centers and apartment buildings.

The company also controls more than 31 million square feet of space in mainland China — mostly residential real estate, but also commercial space in Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as in Beijing, where its properties include the World Financial Center.
