What began as a fledgling dream of musical summers in the cooler climes of Waimea, Hawai‘i, is now becoming a sturdy community asset. The Hawai‘i Performing Arts Festival welcomes over 70 students this year, and is in the midst of 30 public performances, many of them free. HPR’sNoeTanigawa offers this look at an exciting performance coming soon to Honolulu.
Chee Yun performs Astor Piazzola's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Iggy Jang will perform the Nocturne from Borodin's String Quartet No.2, and other special guests will also perform in a lively showcase of youth and maturity. Other pieces on the program include the Mendelssohn Trio and Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence", at the Doris Duke Theatre, Thursday, July 23rd 7:30pm.
