Vaccinating Residents and Staff of Long-Term Care Facilities

One bright spot when it comes to the state's COVID-19 vaccinations is in our long-term care facilities.

A February survey showed Hawai‘i was leading other states in staff and resident inoculation with 78% compared to the national average of 38%.

Hawai‘i not only has the lowest COVID-19 case rates for nursing homes in the country but also the second-lowest when it comes to COVID-19 death rates.

The Conversation talked to Patrick Harrison of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii about new federal reporting requirements that aim to improve that picture even more.
