In this special series on the Obama Presidential Center, Catherine Cruz, host of HPR's The Conversation, traveled to Chicago to attend an exclusive media preview of the center and to learn more about former president Barack Obama’s life, legacy, and homegrown connection to Hawaiʻi.

The center’s grand opening to the public is scheduled for Friday, June 19. It houses a 19-acre campus that includes public spaces, a new branch of the Chicago Public Library, and a museum dedicated to Obama’s life.
