Marshallese COVID-19 response

We have been running several stories about how Pacific Islanders are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. They make up only 4 percent of the population, but more than one third of the COVID-19 cases in Hawaii. The state's struggle to effectively respond to the needs of Hawaii's Pacific Islander communities has mobilized themselves to fill the gap in outreach and services they so desperately need right now.

The sate moratorium runs out at the endof the month and President Trump has taken steps to put off evictions until the end of the year. To get a better sense of the issue, The Conversation's Harrison Patino spoke with Tom Helper of the Hawaii Appleseed Center for Economic Law and Justice.
