An Update with HPD's New Police Chief, Susan Ballard
Chief of the Honolulu Police Department, Susan Ballard, joins us today to talk about restructuring HPD, address current issues within the department and rebuilding the trust within the community after a long rough patch with Honolulu’s Police. She became the Department’s 11th chief and Hawaii’s first female chief of police on November 1, 2017. She joined the HPD in 1985 and worked in a wide range of field and administrative assignments, including the Narcotics/Vice and Criminal Investigation divisions and Downtown-Chinatown patrol district. As a commander, she has led the Kaneohe and Kalihi patrol districts and the Finance, Training, and Central Receiving divisions.
