Radio Flyers Program Update: Amanda Price
Our Radio Flyers campaign lifts off today and that means the opportunity to not only give to your public radio station, but also put miles back into the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children’s Family Fund to fly Neighbor Island families to and from Honolulu so that they can be with their hospitalized child. Amanda Price is the Associate Director of Corporate Giving & Annual Fund for Hawaii Pacific Health and she joined The Conversation with an update on how things are panning out. The Radio Flyers Program program runs through Thursday evening at 6 p.m.

Paradise of the Pacific: Susanna Moore

Novelist Susanna Moore has written movingly about her Hawaii home in works of fiction and memoir, but her new book takes her into territory that represents a new challenge for her: a meticulously researched work of history. Paradise of the Pacific: Approaching Hawaii looks at life in the islands at the end of the eighteenth century and at the cultural disruption brought about by the arrival of Captain Cook and all who followed. We talked with her about the demands non-fiction places upon the writer.

Ian O’Sullivan started his life as a guitarist the way most of us do… by learning a few chords and getting together with friends in raggedy garage bands. After he got introduced to the highly disciplined world of classical guitar he set out on a different path to seeking out the right teachers and working hard to get it right. Today, he’s a guitarist who combines a classicist’s musicality with the self-taught player’s sense of adventure, and that’s what we hoped to tap into with some off-the-cuff holiday music-making.
- Intro Music: Red Shifting by The Helio Sequence
- Outro Music: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Dwight Tokumoto
