Sopogy and Due Dilligence: Panos Prevedouros
For quite a while it seemed that solar energy company Sopogy was everywhere, in print, on tv and radio and many pinned high hopes to what Sopogy said it could do. Entrepreneur and founder Darren Kimura was a golden boy. But last year, he stepped away from Sopogy and last week, the company announced it would close. Not enough revenue, too much debt, an old story...but one Panos Prevedouros says might have been avoided if better analysis had prevailed...his for instance.

UH Orchestra Mozart Requiem: Miguel Felipe
Music students thrive on a challenge, and by the time they have reached University, they’re ready to take on some of the most difficult works in the repertoire… The University of Hawaii’s Orchestra and Concert Choirs are in the final stages of preparing for what, for many of their members, will be the most challenging show yet. Their conductor, Miguel Felipe, has been overseeing the project from the beginning, and he joined us this morning.

Kindergarten/Early Learning Bills: Deborah Zysman
It wasn't a good day for education bills last Friday. Many didn't make the 6 PM cutoff. But as yesterday’s special procedure was announced to conference about bills shut out of due to a miscommunication last week, Deborah Zysman felt a twinge of hope… for a minute. Now with the session moving toward closure, the Good Beginnings Alliance executive director is assessing the wins and losses.

Maui Onstage “Miracle Worker” Jessica Chernecki
There are few stories more inspiring than that of Helen Keller, who overcame the unimaginable and changed the way people all over the world look at disabilities. And few inspirational real-life stories have been better adapted to the stage than hers, in the play “The Miracle Worker.” Keller’s heroism was matched by the woman who taught her – Annie Sullivan. That’s the role Jessica Chernicki is taking on in the new Maui OnStage production, and she joined us by phone this morning.
