Gary Hooser is a member of the Kauai County Council and introduced GMO and pesticide regulator bill 2491, vetoed last week. He is the former State Director of Environmental Quality Control, a former state senator from Kauai County, and was Majority Leader in the Senate from 2006 – 2010.

Marriage Equality: Justice Steven Levinson

Retired Justice Levinson’s 40 years of legal experience included 17 years in private practice, and another 17 years as an Associate Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court. During his tenure, he authored 271 published opinions; 231 of them were the published opinions of the court, and in 1993 included the first appellate decision in American history to hold that a state's marriage laws were presumptively unconstitutional and discriminatory because they prohibited same-sex couples from marrying.

Daniel Harrington is the author, with editor Bennett Hymer, of Timeline Hawaii: an Illustrated Chronological History of the Islands.  The book contains more than 300 photographs, and will be released next week by Mutual Publishing.
