Bytemarks Café is a half-hour radio magazine that showcases the innovation and creativity in Hawaiʻi's tech community. Hosted by Burt Lum, the program's purpose is to raise awareness of the tech economy and engage the listener in the discussion. Bytemarks Café will leverage the internet and social media technologies to extend the conversation well beyond the 30-minute time slot with the intent of building and nurturing this vibrant and vital community in Hawaiʻi.

  • Today we'll hear from a couple of graduates that have gone through the XLR8HI preX program. We'll find out what they've learned during the 4 week intensive, and how this prepares them for running their business, finding investors, and even preparing for an accelerator.
  • Today we'll talk about how the pandemic reinforced how data is necessary to make sound decisions. We'll find out from Chaminade University how the application of data analytics is used to solve critical sustainability issues and promote sustainable development across the Pacific region.
  • Today we'll talk to a few of Hawaii's notable education innovators. We'll get them to unpack Ted Dintersmith's vision for What Could School Be and explore what it takes to bring that to reality.
  • Today we'll recap one of Governor Ige's signature recurring events called the Hawaii Annual Code Challenge. We'll find out how the program evolved, what was accomplished, and what we can expect in the final 7th annual state hackathon.
  • Today we'll learn about the recent bill signed into law by President Biden called the Inflation Reduction Act. We'll find out from a clean energy perspective how the Inflation Reduction Act will help everyday citizens like us save money.
  • Today we'll find out about a bi-annual technology conference called Pacific Tech 2022. We'll learn how innovative tech companies have an opportunity to connect with potential customers, learn about America's Seed Fund program and chart a path to commercialization.
  • Today we'll learn how some companies are adopting a hybrid remote work environment. We'll find out about best practices to optimize the work team regardless of whether they are in the office or working from home.
  • We'll catch up with Movers and Shakas, which just piloted the Hawaii Talent Onboarding Program or HITOP. We'll hear how the program evolved, get an inside view from a few participants and see where Movers and Shakas is going with HITOP cohort 2.
  • Today we'll find out about an electric motor glider competition called e-Hawk. We'll learn how this competition is an innovative first step toward advancing sustainable air travel while exposing students to engineering, aviation, and project management disciplines.
