You can now support Hawai?i’s national parks with new specialty license plates for your car.
Earlier this week, both Haleakala and Hawai?i Volcanoes National Parks celebrated their 101st birthdays.

To commemorate the anniversary, the state of Hawai?i and the National Parks have released specialty license plates created by Maui-based Sae Designs.
In 2015, the state authorized the plates to raise funds for resource protection and education projects at Haleakal? and Hawai?i Volcanoes.
The plates were originally supposed to be unveiled last year to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the parks. But finding a designer, and approval of the final design took more time than expected.

Jessica Ferracane is the Public Affairs Specialist at Hawai?i Volcanoes National Park.
She says the plates do cost more, but part of the fee will go to the parks.
Ferracane says car owners can choose between two designs representing Haleakal? and Hawai?i Volcanoes.
Hawai?i joins only a handful of other states to have specialty license plates for its national parks.
