Legendary rock act The Yardbirds return to Honolulu and HPR's ATC

The Yardbirds are back in the state for a three-night run at the Blue Note in Waikiki starting Friday. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were all guitarists for the band that were groundbreaking in their approach of mixing American blues with rocking improvisations, including climaxes that came to be known as "rave ups." Original member/drummer Jim McCarty spoke with HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence.

He discussed his own musical roots, how the band got their name, shared stories about each of the legendary guitarists who played with them, provided insight into their development of pioneering rock improvisations, and more in a nearly half-hour conversation.
