HPR's All Things Considered Guest Preview: Sergio Mendes

It’s a rare mission to a planet you don’t often hear about in our solar system as HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Christopher Phillips for this week’s Stargazer.

Livingston Taylor is starting a three show tour of the state tomorrow with a Friday show at the MACC, Saturday at the Palace in Hilo and Sunday at the Hapuna Prince Hotel. The gifted brother of James Taylor is also a noted educator at one of the most renowned schools, Berklee College of Music in Boston.

This week on Helping Hand it’s Special Olympics Hawaii and their Over the Edge fundraiser October 27th. Participants rappel off the side of the 40-story Waikiki Hyatt Regency to raise funds and awareness for their support of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This week HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence is welcoming a pair of guests from the band Def Leppard, who have returned to play in the Aloha State for the first time since 1983.

If you were a 15 year-old in the audience when Def Leppard last played in Hawaii, you'd be 50 now. After three and half decades, with multiple music trends and fads having come and gone, the venerable rockers are still going, and are returning to the same place they performed a pair of shows in September 1983.
