Honolulu has made another one of those top ten lists.

This one counts construction cranes. And according to this count, at the start of this year, Honolulu came in tenth in the country.

A Hong Kong construction company called Rider Levett Bucknall puts together an annual crane index.

The company counted a dozen cranes in Honolulu at the start of the year—which beats Boston by one and trails Denver by seven.

The top of the list includes Portland, Oregon at number five, Washington D.C. at number four, and Los Angeles and Chicago at three and two.

The city with the most cranes in the country: Seattle with a total of 62 as of January.

Bill Dorman joined HPR in 2011 and was named its executive editor in 2025.
