Today we’re focusing on the situation on Oahu’s north shore as community opposition to a new wind farm has taken a new tact. We expect arrests will continue as those who oppose the project vow to stand their ground.
Honolulu police arrested more than a hundred people this week as they tried to block the transport of the first of several massive wind turbines to Kahuku. The peaceful demonstrations have been marred by two acts of vandalism.
The transport of turbines is expected to last through Thanksgiving so it is shaping up to be a long November. What is the way forward? Today's guests are:
Senator Gil Riviere, who represents Hawaii’s 23rd Senatorial District which includes Kahuku.
Gino Soquena, Executive Director of the Hawaii Building and Construction Trades Council.
