GM To Eliminate 25,000 Jobs, Several Plants by 2008

General Motors Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announces the U.S. auto giant will cut 25,000 jobs and shutter several plants in the next few years a bid to turn around the ailing company. He made the announcement Tuesday at the company's annual meeting. GM lost $1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2005.
