A meeting is being held today on Molokai to discuss plans for a former bombing range.
During World War 2, more than 900 acres of land and water on the north-central coast of the Kalaupapa peninsula was used for weapon testing – and is known as the Makanalua Bombing Range.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting the meeting to discuss its findings and recommendations for 704 acres of the former range.
Lori Wong is Project Manager with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers.
She says this is part of a continuing process of community involvement.
Wong says the proposed plan can be found at the Molokai public library.
The meeting is set for today at 5 P.M. at the Mitchell Pauole Community Center in Kaunakakai.
The Army Corps of Engineers will be accepting public comments until September 30th.
