The City and County of Honolulu’s response team to help individuals experiencing homelessness has expanded outside urban Honolulu to Windward Oʻahu.

The city’s Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement units, or CORE, made contact with 10 unsheltered individuals living across Kailua last week.

The team evaluated them and provided medical treatment. The CORE team plans on reaching out to the same individuals with the intent of getting them into a shelter.

CORE operates three units, including emergency medical technicians and community health workers.

Operations began in Chinatown and have expanded to Waikīkī, Kakaʻako and Moʻiliʻili.
