State Rep. Sylvia Luke to run for Hawaiʻi lieutenant governor

State Representative Sylvia Luke is the third announced candidate for Hawaiʻi lieutenant governor.

Luke, chair of the House Finance Committee, joins former State Senator Jill Tokuda and former Honolulu City Councilmember Ikaika Anderson in the race for the state’s no. 2 political position in the 2022 election.

Luke says she wants to work on affordable housing and education issues including making sure all three- and four-year-olds have access to preschool.

Luke represents District 25, which encompasses Makiki, Punchbowl, Nuʻuanu, Dowsett Highlands, Pacific Heights and Pauoa. She was first elected to her seat in 1998.

Current Lt. Gov. Josh Green is running to replace Gov. David Ige.
