Kauaʻi voters will go to the polls to elect a new prosecuting attorney

Kauaʻi voters will go to the polls in December to elect a new prosecuting attorney.

Former Kauaʻi Prosecutor Justin Kollar, who was elected to his first term in 2012, announced in July that he would resign his position as of Sept. 30 to join a nonprofit organization dedicated to criminal justice reform.

Deputy Prosecutor Rebecca Like is now the acting prosecutor. She announced she intends to campaign for the position.

A special primary election will be held on Dec. 18. If there are two or more candidates, the top two vote-getters will advance to a special general election on Feb. 26, 2022.

Candidates can file at the Elections Division of the County Clerk’s office from Oct. 4 to Oct. 15. Visit kauai.gov/Elections for additional information.
