Oʻahu residents struggling to pay rent will be able to apply for assistance through the City and County of Honolulu's rental and utility relief program. The online portal reopens Thursday at noon.
In this round, the city will accept 5,000 new applications. The state ended its eviction moratorium last weekend.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s temporary protection from eviction order applies to most of the state until Oct. 3. But it only covers people who have tried to obtain government assistance for rent, such as through this program.
The online application portal can be found at oneoahu.org/renthelp. For more information, call the city’s call center at 808-768-2489 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m daily.
