Lines stretched around the block this weekend at the opening of a pop-up bookstore in Honolulu by Friends of the Library Hawaii.
Volunteers said business was brisk both Saturday and Sunday at the 10,000-square-foot space in Ward Village. It was previously occupied by Pier One Imports.
Village Books and Music is filled with vinyl, CDs, DVDs, works of art and, of course, books.
The store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Friends of the Library members can schedule their visits and slots are open for walk-ins. They plan to restock daily from an inventory of 100,000 books, 50,000 records and more. (Click here to reserve an appointment.)
Volunteers are welcome to help staff the pop-up over the next three months.
