The NFL is coming back to Hawai?i. The Los Angeles Rams, in partnership with the Hawai?i Tourism Authority, announced the team will be playing the Dallas Cowboys at Aloha Stadium this August.
The last time the NFL had an exhibition game in Hawai?i was in 2016 when it held the Pro Bowl here.
The preseason game will be a rematch of last season’s NFC divisional playoff contest – when the Rams beat the Cowboys 30 to 22.
The Rams organization announced it will also be hosting several youth events while the team is on O?ahu.
"One of the things that they're going to do in late June is they're going to do a skills competition...with some of their coaches and players," said Mufi Hannemann, president and CEO of the Hawai?i Tourism and Lodging Association and a former Honolulu mayor.
"And we're going to engage some of our public high schools in a competition that will enable them to see exactly what they need to do to get to the next level," he said, adding local coaches will benefit since they will see the latest techniques.
He said the Rams will also engage in character education. "That it's not just good enough to be a sound athlete, but to also stress to have the right kind of character," he said.
The game will be played on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m.
