Questions about Fukushima Radiation in Hawaii

It’s been a little more than three years since a major earthquake and tsunami shattered the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in northern Japan.

For many in Hawaii, there are still questions about the lingering impact of that disaster…including the possibility of radiation reaching the islands.

That was the topic of a recent conference on Kauai…organized by Kauai Community College and the Surfrider Foundation.

HPR contributing reporter Joe Day spoke with several scientists at the conference—including marine biologist Doctor Carl Berg.
