This week on Helping Hand, we’re learning about the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii and their I Aloha someone living with epilepsy conference. Naomi Manuel, executive director of Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii, speaks with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence about the free education event for people with epilepsy, their families, caregivers and others Saturday, November 2nd 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
The event features current updates and issues with epilepsy, seizure first aid, informational talks on surgical interventions, the science of the cannabinoid system, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, general information on seizure monitoring devices, and will include talks from several health care professionals.
Helping Hand is a feature airing statewide on HPR1 stations Fridays and then appearing online here, where our Helping Hand segments are archived. On Fridays, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to people with disabilities and people and animals among the most vulnerable.
