This week on Helping Hand, we welcome back Special Olympics Hawaii return to discuss their inclusive-based sports and friendship programs, upcoming Cop on Top and Over the Edge fundraisers, and ways people can support the organization. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence spoke with Tracey Bender, Special Olympics Hawai‘i Director of Development.
Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities of all ages can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with special mental and physical limitations.
