On Helping Hand this week it’s Hawaii Marine Animal Response, the largest local nonprofit marine species conservation and response organization. They do things like save injured or imperiled animals, conduct species management and recovery, and inform and engage the public. These first-responders to vulnerable and beloved area critters are often seen on beaches trying to protect resting Hawaiian monk seals. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Whitney Beer-Kerr, Development Manager, at Hawaii Marine Animal Response.
Helping Hand airs statewide on HPR1 stations on Fridays and then appears online here, where all of our Helping Hand segments are archived. Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization topic or event that offers assistance to people with disabilities and animals and people among the most vulnerable.
