This week Helping Hand presents week two in a two-week series of guests relating to helping animals on the Big Island. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence welcomes the Hawaii Lava Flow Animal Rescue Network, which started as a public group on Facebook as an informational hub for those needing assistance with pets and animals during the 2018 volcanic eruption. In addition they offer support, volunteers, and supplies directly to evacuees, nonprofits, and government agencies. There are many ways people can support them, and we’re joined by Regina Dodaro Romero Serrano, one of the administrators of the Hawaii Lava Flow Animal Rescue Network.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations statewide and archived online here in our growing online database of resources. Each Friday afternoon, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable.
