This week on Helping Hand, HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence offers week two in a three-week series of related guests, all nonprofits on the frontlines of the worst homeless crisis in the United States, which is right here in the Aloha State. Week one was Mental Health Kokua, and this week it’s returning guest IHS, the Institute for Human Services, one of the leading organizations in the effort to help the homeless in Hawaii. Kimo Carvalho, spokesperson for IHS, is his guest.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR, airing Fridays on All Things Considered during afternoon drive, and then archived online here. Each Friday afternoon, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization topic or event that offers assistance to people with disabilities and others among the most vulnerable.
