Helping Hand continues three weeks of segments relating to the homeless crisis in the Aloha State, with returning guest Mental Health K?kua, the largest mental health nonprofit in Hawai'i. They’ve provided services for more than 40 years, helping the homeless and mentally ill. They were among organizations supported by the December 2016 Helping Hand for the Homeless benefit concert with Jake Shimabukuro in our Atherton Studio, benefiting the coalition of homeless service providers Partners in Care. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Mental Health K?kua CEO Greg Payton.
Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations each week. On Friday afternoons, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and others among the most vulnerable. The segments are all archived online here.
