The O'Jays most recent album is called "The Last Word", and while they've said it may be their last release, the group have maintained their socially conscious messaging that helped define their sound over decades, and perhaps taken it up a notch. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence spoke with O'Jays original member Eddie Levert about how the band are also taking on the Trump Administration through their music, with powerful new songs like "Above The Law".
In addition to going over their objections to Donald Trump's presidency they've expressed with the album, Eddie detailed the unusual connection the band have to Trump, as their massive hit "For The Love Of Money" served as theme song to the Trump-hosted "The Apprentice" TV show, and how Trump wanted to use another of their anthems, "Love Train", as a modified campaign song.
