This week on Helping Hand, it's a return visit from Hawaii Fido Service Dogs. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence welcomes Executive Director Jim Kennedy, puppy raiser and member of their board, and Freedom, a white lab they’re training. Hawaii Fi-Do Service Dogs is a nonprofit that’s been internationally accredited under ADI -- Assistance Dogs International. Hawaii Fido can explain the significance of service dogs coming from the right sources, and can also explain the many ways the animals they train can serve people with disabilities. There are also a lot of ways to support their efforts, we hear in this segment.

Helping Hand is a feature airing Fridays on HPR1 stations statewide during All Things Considered and then archived online here. Fridays as part of All Things Considered, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, event or topic that offers assistance to people with disabilities, and people and animals that are among the most vulnerable.
