Science Reveals the Secret Lives of Sharks

The Friends of the Waikīkī Aquarium’s Tim Guard Distinguished Lecture Series returns with University of Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology researcher, Dr. Carl Meyer, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Admission is free.

Dr. Meyer’s talk, titled “Science Reveals the Secret Lives of Sharks” will highlight the unexpected discoveries that deepen our understanding of how sharks survive in challenging environments, and their vital importance in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems. These insights play a crucial role in supporting conservation efforts along with offering innovative solutions for reducing human-shark conflicts, helping promote a more sustainable coexistence.

The Tim Guard Distinguished Lecture Series is named in honor of long-time board member and beloved local waterman, Tim Guard. Presented in partnership with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and the Waikīkī Aquarium.
