Bring the family and celebrate Easter with the Spring Wind Quintet's last concert of the season. We're delighted to showcase Michael Thomas Foumai's, Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra Director of Artistic Engagement and Composer in Residence, Hawaiʻi premier of the wind quintet composition, Flash Fiction. The discussion around this collaboration first began in 2012 and we are thrilled to pay tribute to a talented local composer like Foumai.

The upcoming concerts will also feature Opus 88, No. 1 from Reicha who was the most prolific of the early wind quintet composers. Along with Paquito D'Rivera's Aires Tropicales (1994), a major late 20th century work for wind quintet, where each movement represents different musical styles of the Caribbean region. Some movements of Aires Tropicales pay homage to important musicians who influenced D'Rivera.
