The public is invited to attend a free lecture, “One Weaver’s Journey”, a presentation by textile artist Dianne Totten on Saturday April 6 at 6 pm at the Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui studio at Downtown Art Center, 1041 Nuuanu Ave.
Totten will share her approach to designing and sewing one of a kind garments and her journey in developing handwoven cloth that crimps. Nationally recognized as a textile artist, hand weaver and instructor, Totten “works with pattern, structure and color” to design fabrics that “flatter your figure, shawls that won’t slide off your shoulders and scarves that can serve a dual purpose.”
Totten, of Marietta, Georgia will be in Hawaii to teach two workshops on the “Magic of Crimp Cloth,” for the Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui April 5-7 in Honolulu and April 8-10 in Volcano.
