Mid-Pacific Institute’s Global Exchange Academy Introduces Cybersecurity and Esports Week

GlobalX offers two new in-person tech learning experiences from July 18-22 for all students in grades 6-12

WHAT: Mid-Pacific Institute’s Global Exchange Academy (GlobalX) offers two new in-person courses for all students from grades 6-12 during Cybersecurity and Esports week: #BeCyberSmart Cybercamp (grades 6-12) and Youth Esports Summer Camp by Vanta Leagues (grades 6-10).

WHEN: #BeCyberSmart Cybercamp – July 18-22 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Youth Esports Summer Camp by Vanta Leagues – July 18-22 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Registration: All students from public, charter and private schools are encouraged to attend. Cost is $500 for #BeCyberSmart Cybercamp and $300 for Youth Esports Summer Camp. DETAILS: Cybersecurity and esports are two of the fastest growing industries for the next generation of workers. They represent an increasingly digitally connected world that requires specific skills, highly collaborative mindsets, and a curiosity for the unknown. During Cybersecurity and Esports week, students from all schools are invited to take their first steps toward careers in cybersecurity and esports, which both have career pathways in creative services, business management, finance, and engineering.

#BeCyberSmart Cybercamp is for students who want a fun, fast-paced, in-person learning experience focused on cybersecurity defense. Students will be introduced to networking fundamentals and architecture. They will engage in a variety of activities in Windows and Linux environments and daily topics will include Cyber Ethics, Windows 10, Ubuntu 18, Cisco Networking, and a CyberPatriot competition day.

Youth Esports Summer Camp by Vanta Leagues will explore the fundamentals of esports through a team-based program that is COPPA compliant. The program includes in-game instruction for League of Legends with expert trained coaches, supervised recreation play, and holistic player development programming.
