Meet Kauai's Forest Birds, the "Jewels of the Forest"
Meet Kauai's Forest Birds, the "Jewels of the Forest"
Isolated from parent gene flow, the ancestor of Kauai's forest birds evolved into a diverse and spectacular group of species known as the Hawaiian Honeycreepers. With humans colonizing, alien species, invasive plants and avian diseases several forest bird species have gone extinct and only a few remain in pristine mountain areas. Meet Dr. "Cali" Crampton Project Leader Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project and learn about the evolution, endangerment and how you can help.
