Kris Goto Immersive exhibition “Natural Habitat” at Polu Gallery
The immersive exhibition, “Natural Habitat,” features Goto’s unique interpretations of the concept of “home.” Goto’s solo art exhibition will run from 3/25/2022 - 4/28/2022 at Polu Gallery Waikiki at the Sheraton Waikiki, but there will be a special opening reception on March 25th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and complimentary 1-hour parking validation will be provided for this. “We are so proud to announce that Collections of Waikiki will be featuring the work of local artist Kris Goto,” stated Jun Yoshimura, Owner of Polu Gallery. “Her vibrant illustrations and profound depictions of what ‘home’ means to her will capture the hearts of those who visit this gallery. The ‘Natural Habitat’ series is a compelling exploration of the concept of home, as Goto herself has moved around a lot in her life, feeling deeply connected to each place she has called home in the past.” Born and raised in the countryside of Japan, Oahu-based multidisciplinary artist Goto was heavily inspired by art found in manga and other forms of Japanese art. Specializing in canvases, both small and large, Goto’s eye-catching work has become well-known within Hawaii’s art scene. Goto’s “Natural Habitat” series features her trademark style while exploring the different ways that ‘home’ can be portrayed. What defines ‘home’ is different for each person, and this exhibit featured in Polu Gallery Waikiki is sure to leave visitors looking deep within themselves to consider their own interpretation of the concept.
