The Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center (HCDC) is excited to celebrate its 26th anniversary with a month-long celebration throughout December, culminating in a special Founder’s Day event on Saturday, December 21, 2024. This annual celebration honors the legacy of our beloved founder, Loretta Yajima, while spotlighting the Center’s transformative impact on the children and families of Hawaii.

Founded in 1998 by the late Loretta Yajima, HCDC has become a cornerstone of early childhood education, sparking curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning through hands-on play. “What started as my mother’s dream of a space for children to explore, discover, imagine, and dream has flourished into a treasured community resource,” said Liane Usher, HCDC’s president and Loretta’s daughter. "Through play, children explore the world around them, discover their potential, and develop the skills they need to succeed. We are proud to celebrate her enduring legacy, which has touched so many lives in Hawaii.”

26 Days of Magic & Discovery – A Month of Celebration
Throughout December, HCDC will celebrate 26 years of fostering imagination, exploration, and joy. Leading up to the Founder’s Day event on December 21, we will feature exciting activities, special promotions, and community engagements.

December 1-8, 2024: Membership Promotion
Celebrate our 26th anniversary with a $26 discount off the first 260 new or renewed memberships. Join our community and enjoy the benefits of year-round access to all the magic the Center has to offer!

December 9-15, 2024: Enter to Win a Free Private Booking
New or renewed memberships will be entered to win a free party booking for up to 10 people (children & adults) – valued at $150.

December 16-22, 2024: Enter to Win a Private Play Hour
